Kristina's Q&A

How did you get started in financial planning?

My career in financial services started as an office administrator in Muswell Hill in 1999. I had applied for two jobs, one in travel and one in financial services and got offered both.

It was a real sliding doors moment, and I opted for financial services, with no prior experience.

What does a typical day look like?

After walking my dog, my typical workday will include either face-to-face or virtual meetings with my clients, reviewing the markets, processing of client’s mortgages, protection and then dealing with the back-office work and administration of my clients' cases.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Without a doubt the thing I enjoy most is helping and building a rapport with my clients.

I am a people person, so I get great satisfaction in finding solutions for my clients for any mortgage requirement or protection planning.

What are the biggest challenges?

I enjoy taking on new challenges and I like to find a resolution around difficult situations.

For me I would say the biggest challenge is when the mortgage markets are turbulent, which it has been in the recent 18 months.

Operations Manager

What do you do outside of work?

I love to scuba dive, although I am most definitely a fair-weather scuba diver. I like to find a destination somewhere hot and immerse myself in the ocean.

So if I am not planning a break to a new country, I am spending time at the gym or with my dog, my two daughters, and my grandson.

If you weren't a financial planner, what would you be?

That’s an interesting question, as I love to travel. As a child I wanted to be an air stewardess. So the ideal job would be a travel writer.

However, if I was to retrain now it would be doing something which helps people personally, maybe as a personal trainer or a therapist.
